Taa-naash-kaa-da Sanctuary is a family dream that seeks above all to conserve the bountiful natural resources of New Mexico. We believe that the fact that New Mexico is “underdeveloped” is a good thing, in that it points the way forward to a spiritual, sustainable relationship between the land of New Mexico and its diverse human occupants. We have worked hard to develop eco-spiritual practices and are proud to support local community sustainability and cultural preservation issues.
Some of the initiatives we are involved in to foster environmental health and sustainability at Taa-naash-kaa-da
Monarch Butterfly Reserve: Taa-naash-kaa-da is partnering with the Las Vegas Wildlife Refuge to provide safe space for the Rocky Mountain Monarch, as it's migrational habitats become scarce, due to climatic changes and human encroachment on ancient territorial resting places. In the Spring of 2015, in conjunction with our Womyn's Community Garden, a Butterfly Garden shall begin and grow our endeavors.
New Mexico Mustangs: We are part of New Mexico's effort to protect our mustangs, which can often be seen running on the lonelier mesas throughout the state. Our horses are free range, having the use of the entire 76.9 acres and often joining us for ceremony, healing, and just companionship.
Native Plant Reintroduction: Whenever possible, we work to protect and reintroduce Hawaii’s delicate native plant species.
